Ben James Craggs, of Sedgefield, County Durham, aged only 3 years died in an accident at Edinburgh's Royal Highland Show on Thursday 19th June 2008 a few days before his fourth birthday.
Contrary to newspaper reports, Ben was under the supervision of his dad in an area close to where they were parked. He ran under a rope between two concrete bollards and turned to run back to his dad. He slipped as he approached the bollards, caught the rope which then pulled one of the bollards down, hitting him and causing fatal head injuries.
Ambulance crew on site for the massive event at Ingliston, near Edinburgh, took Ben to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children but medics were unable to save him.
Ben was a typical little boy who was full of life who loved to run about and play outside with his wheel barrow or on his John Deere Tractor. He liked to help his dad on the farm, look after the animals and be out on the tractor with his dad.
Ben went to nursery at Hardwick School in Sedgefield and was due to start Rectory Road Primary School in the town in September.
Ben's family are heartbroken to have lost such a wonderful, special little boy who's life had only just begun, but will hold all precious memories of him close to there hearts forever.
My Life Story by Ben James Craggs
My life started on my dad's farm, with sheep, cows and horses, I took no harm.
I rode my tractor to and fro, up and down the track I'd go.
I loved my Malkie he was my cat and Brie she was my dog, then there were my lambs Elliott n Ben, Victoria my cow and Bonk my calf.
My proud dad in his big John Deere, made a seat next to his to sit me near, We'd cut the grass around our farm, there was always jobs the work went on.
Then mam said to nursery I had to trot so off I went to Hippitots, where Janet was my favourite teacher but now alas I cannot reach her.
We had stories and games and loads of fun, there was lots of space where we could run.
I made lots of friends they were all great and Isobele was my special mate, we'd run and jump and shout with glee but now she can no longer play with me.
Will Craggs was my best little mate, we always loved to play, I'm sure he'll miss me lots and lots but we'll play another day.
I was starting school in September my mam had bought my kit, I could hardly wait to try it on and show her how it fit.
Now this is as far as I can go, only three years old not quite four, we were all enjoying the Highland Show, when Jesus came calling, 'Ben it's time to go'.
To finish my story I love my mam and my dad, I know without me they'll be very sad, but as time moves on as they get older I'll always be watching from over there shoulder.
I love my big sister Jess and I know she'll be upset, but tell her not to fear, I'm riding on a big white fluffy cloud, watching down on her from up here.
I'm watching all of you down there including Elliott, Matthew and Sam, Just remember when you're missing me look above, because I'm looking down on all of you with eternal love.

Hi son Nana Grandad & Jessica came to see you over the xmas period and we left you some nice presents on your grave just to let you know you are always in our hearts, Elliot, Sam, Mathew could not come as they say it makes them too sad however when it was your birthday we had our usual big party for you and all your cousins were their. Hi son its your seventh birthday today and all of your cousins were here at our house to celebrate your birthday, nana had your caterpiller cake ready for you and Taylor, Mathew, Elliott, blew your candles out together and sang happy birthday to you as we all miss you so much and our hearts bleed for you, Happy birthday son you will live in our hearts forever.
Looking at the photos of sweet looking, happy little Ben, made me cry.
I`m sooo sorry for the parents to lose him.

Hello son its been a while but we have not forgotten you and never will, we tried to get to your memorial this year but everyone was upset about the weather not allowing us however we will make it up to you and will be over to see you before santa comes and we will bring your xmas present, all the family will say a prayer for you as you are so loved by all of our family.
